RAKS content - What to expect?
Last year's participants called it a Belly Dance Boot Camp!
RAKS means 4 full days of dancing, learning, and sharing. Attending RAKS is the equivalent of taking at least half a year of weekly classes! Actually it is more, because you will be working harder, getting more attention and you'll have the chance to fully immerse yourself into the dance for 4 whole days together with others who share your passion. Where else do you get that opportunity? And of course there are your RAKS teachers, bringing their very best to the summerschool.

We will come fully prepared, but because we want the freedom to change and adapt the program depending on the needs of the participants - YOUR needs - we will NOT post a full workshop program here. The summerschool is not conceived as a series of independent workshops, but rather as an intensive study program for dancers who want 4 days of kick-ass training! Every morning we will post that day's full schedule. We will definitely be covering several technical aspects of the dance, but also several styles, prop work, performance related issues, etc! We are already working on the contents for 2010, and it looks like next to the basics (i.e. makeup workshop, rhythms class) there will be enough new stuff to fill up at least a few RAKSes :-) We promise, you will NOT get bored!

Workshops will be held in two different groups, to be able to cater to your specific needs as a student. Both groups will have a maximum of 16 participants, to ensure that there is plenty of room for indiviual attention. Our RAKS teachers will assign all registrants into groups depending on their skill level, goals, and invidual self-assessment as given in their registration email.

RAKS is aimed at intermediate to advanced and pro level dancers, with the desire to dance, dance, dance. You have been taking classes for several years, attending workshops and doing your homework. You are not afraid of hard work, individual attention and of course a lot of fun.

If you are an intermediate dancer, we aim to help you solidify the skills you already have, while adding more technique, finesse and variation. Let us help you take that important step from "doing moves" to dancing. If you are an advanced level/professional dancer, we want to challenge you to step outside of your confort zone and to guide you towards your true potential as a dancer. RAKS aims to clean up any technique issues you still struggle with, polish your prensentation skills and make you an even bigger treat to watch.
