After 6 successful editions of the RAKS International Summer School in Leuven (Belgium) it is time for something new!
Inspired by the fun packed belly dance weekends that Artemisia had the fortune to be invited to and teach at abroad, she wanted to bring this experience to Belgium! It has taken a while to find the perfect venue, but we have!
(e)motion and Artemisia proudly present "RAKS goes ROYAL”, a residential belly dance weekend, in an absolutely breath taking environment, Castle "Koningsteen", a small and beautifully restored stately home in Kapelle-op-den-Bos (Vlaams-Brabant, Belgium).
Since the 14th century royalty has come to play in this place. The current buildings date from the 1880s and have been turned into a relaxing, friendly and soulfull place, used for seminars and wokshops.
It will be ours for three days in the summer of 2014.
Come and relax, learn and have fun with your friends for the weekend!
We are currently working on the teacher line up and programme. Definitely joining us is Delanna (Germany/Russia), whose workshops inspired many dancers at RAKS 2012 and 'From Cairo with Love'. Also teaching are Artemisia, Salwa, Nasreen and Diana Alamkara. We will have several oriental style classes, technique classes, a choreography, but also introduction and more advanced workshops in folklore, fusion or other specialities, there will be an optional arabic make up class (by Amirah), and several other little extra's. We will probably have a drummer, etc... and a hafla of course!
We guarantee it will be a full and exciting program, with lots of workshops to give you inspiration and a little push. There will be several classes going on at the same time, so you can choose the classes that speak to you the most. The workshops will offer something for all levels, but the weekend will not be suited for beginners. Workshop groups will be small and guarantee maximum personal attention.
Arrivals are Friday 8th August, from 15h, after which you can settle in, and relax in the beautiful gardens, (or practice for the show), but you are also welcome to join us later if you are traveling straight from work to us.... We 'meet and greet' at 18h, followed by dinner, and the first workshops! The weekend ends at 17.30h Sunday 10th August.
